Google Docs and Calendar
By Raymond Keckler | December 18, 2007
I have a gmail account. With the gmail account you have access to several of the programs that Google has developed. This includes documents, blog, calendar, photos, and more. I find it more useful as time goes on. With a house full of people, sometimes my laptop gets taken for other reason and I am forced to use the desktop. With my documents on the web, I have full access to them.
I started using the Google calendar. The main reason I use it is for the SMS paging capabilities. You can send email to your phone but I find that the message might be delayed for some reason. If I need to get paged I want it right away. The SMS paging does this without having to worry about whether my email server is slow. I can also use it to show my schedule in my web site. The About tab has my Google calendar embedded in the page. I have some security in it to prevent people from knowing my exact schedule but they can see when I am busy and when I am available. When I log into my gmail account, the calendar on my web site allows me to see exactly what is on my schedule.
This was created using Google Docs. It is a nice tool to have. It has editing, revisions, sharing, publishing, and numerous other functionality. It show automatically if a word is misspelled. Unlike Microsoft Word it does not give you a list of properly spelled words. It does have spell check but will only tell you what words it thinks is misspelled. I plan on using this more as time goes on.
Overall the Google Docs and Calendar are extremely useful to me. Also, I can post this do my blog without have to copy and paste it.
